BE A BUDDY! Looking for volunteers to participate in training for The Maine Buddy Program. The Maine Buddy Program is a statewide, one-to-one program providing an important complement to support provided by family and friends by connecting you with a trained volunteer who has “been there” in a similar cancer experience. Buddies most often talk on the telephone. Depending on proximity, Buddies may meet in person and some communicate by email as well. For more information on becoming a Buddy, you can contact the Dempsey Centers at their toll free number: 1-877-774-2200.
How can a Buddy help?
Buddies use their unique perspective to provide support, hope, and encouragement as you move through your or your loved one’s cancer journey or grief process.
Buddies provide an opportunity for sharing information and asking questions.
Buddies are willing to share their own cancer stories and strategies for coping.
Crafters Looking for volunteers with crafting skills willing to donate their time.
Men's Activities The center is looking to offer more activities for men. If you have an idea for a new program or would be willing to volunteer to lead an activity, please contact us.
